The producer
Who are they?
Piccini began in 1882 when Angiolo Piccini founded a small winery in Poggibonsi, in the heart of Tuscany. Five generations have since led the company. Under Pierangiolo, the winery moved to Castellina in Chianti and invested notably in Fattoria di Valiano in Chianti Classico and in the Maremma. The family later expanded into other Italian regions, but Sangiovese and the Chianti landscape remain central to its historic identity.

What sets them apart.
Five generations
Since Angiolo Piccini in 1882, the winery has passed through five generations of the family.
Tuscan roots
Chianti, Chianti Classico and Maremma form the historic roots of a project now extended to other Italian regions.
Sangiovese as a thread
Tuscany's emblematic grape remains one of the clearest ways to understand the winery's historic identity.

Le Premier Verre
Why we follow them.
Because Piccini offers a very approachable introduction to Sangiovese and Chianti. It shows how a historic name can provide a useful first reference point before exploring more specialized producers.
