The producer

Who are they?

Masi's history has been connected to the Boscaini family since 1772, the year of its first harvest in the Vaio dei Masi, in the heart of the Valpolicella Classica. Over generations, the house has become a leading specialist in traditional grape-drying techniques, notably appassimento. It is also the origin of Campofiorin, created with the 1964 vintage to offer a red that is richer and more complex than a classic Valpolicella, while remaining more accessible than an Amarone. Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara remain at the heart of this deeply Venetian identity.

Their approach

What sets them apart.

01

The art of appassimento

Masi has developed particular expertise in grape-drying, a tradition essential to Amarone and to several of its most emblematic cuvées.

02

Tradition and innovation

The house relies on Valpolicella traditions while pursuing significant technical and experimental work around winemaking and appassimento.

03

Deeply local grape varieties

Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara give the wines their typically Veronese character, with notes of cherry, spice, freshness and depth.

Why we follow them.

Because Masi makes it easy to understand a technique that defines much of Verona's wines: appassimento. Campofiorin is an excellent entry point—rich and indulgent enough without requiring the budget or power of an Amarone.
