The producer
Who are they?
Founded in 1909 in Villié-Morgon, Domaine Marcel Lapierre has become an essential reference in Beaujolais. Marcel Lapierre took over the family estate in 1973 and, a few years later, under the influence of Jules Chauvet, developed a way of working based on healthy grapes, living soils and very low‑intervention winemaking. Today his children Mathieu and Camille continue this vision across about 18 hectares, mainly in the Morgon appellation. Gamay is worked there with precision to produce wines that are at once generous, lively and deeply tied to their terroir.
Their approach
What sets them apart.
Living soils
The estate farms organically and seeks to preserve soil life so the terroir can express itself with as few interventions as possible.
Low‑intervention winemaking
Fermentations are carried out without additives, in a search for purity and authenticity that has helped make the estate a benchmark of natural wine.
Gamay at the center
The estate works almost exclusively with Gamay Noir with white juice, mainly on Morgon terroirs, to reveal its freshness, fruit and depth.

Le Premier Verre
Why we follow them.
Because Marcel Lapierre shows everything Gamay can become when you take it seriously. The wines remain easy to drink and full of fruit, but behind that apparent simplicity lie real precision, a sense of terroir and a philosophy that influenced a whole generation of winemakers.
